Started Quarantine with an Upgrade! (Ross Creek Cabins)

Q: How do you upgrade during quarantine?  A: Start by living without water...let me explain.   My girlfriend has been living off the grid, in town, without water for nearly a full year. It's essentially a single car garage with wood floors and a gas fireplace. The place is pretty cool but it has no plumbing. Yes, correct, NO plumbing. I joined her a few months into it and now I have been living the bum metro life for about 6 months as well. Here's how we make the sink, shower, and toilet work.  The average household goes through about 80-100 gallons a day! We go through about 10 gallons a week. There is a blue 5 gallon jug that sits atop...

For the Small Price of $32,900 You Too Can Glamp!

Holy Cow People! I had no idea Glamping (Glamorous Camping) has taken it to the next level! Personally, this type of outdoors feels like the most disingenuous and least authentic way to experience the outdoors. It takes the whole meaning completely away from getting outside. It should be a little uncomfortable, rugged, and dirty. Welcome to getting lost in nature! It levels you back to our primal instincts and forces your conscious to let go of everything else except food, warmth, water, and shelter.  HOWEVER, I am speaking from a place of "not having millions in my bank account". Under Canvas has one of the most appealing coolest websites out there (play on words intended). I'm almost 100% sure I would love...

3 Lessons Learned from climbing 8 14ers this Summer!

I've fallen short of my goal to climb a dozen 14ers this summer, however, it wasn't from a lack of trying. I won't bore you with the details of every climb although each mountain had its own story and experience. If I started my blog sooner it would have been amazing to describe each one in detail because each climb was a blog worth writing about. But without further ado here are 3 lessons I've learned. Lesson 1) Doing what you love by yourself will open opportunities to do what you love with others.  Lo and behold it's true. When you start taking action without any expectation and for the sole reason that you love doing it, you will start meeting and...

60 Year Old Mom climbs 14er, Cries.

When is the last time you climbed a 14,000 foot mountain? What about your parents? What about the tallest one in Colorado? Well Ladies and Gentlegerms...My mother kicked ass. She took on Mt. Elbert (14,433 ft), the tallest in Colorado, with an optimistic and never quit attitude, just one foot in front of the other. I would say a never say die attitude but I'm pretty sure I heard her say "I'm going to die"...might be an exaggeration  It's a 4 am wake up at the trailhead just 30 minutes from Leadville, CO. We got up had some breakfast, clicked on our headlights and starting trekking the 5 mile hike to the top. The goal was to get out of...
